Hey, y’all! I’m Maya J.Christian and I am an actor currently based in New York, New york.
A southern girl at heart, I was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from the high school program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. I graduated from the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University where I obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre with Departmental Honors in 2020.
When I was younger, I definitely fell into performing for selfish reasons. I fantasized about the prospects of fame and fortune. I loved attention, the feeling of everyone’s eyes on me. Still do. But that’s only how the story initially came to be. I came for myself, but I stayed for the world. Life imitates art. History has shown us time and again that art moves people in ways that simply cannot be put into words, and I want to be a part of the movement. If I could change someone’s life for the better, why wouldn’t I? So here I am! Ready and eager to jump into this business we call “show.”
